The General Store & Café

Guests staying at The Campsite will love the General Store & Café. Open daily for breakfast and lunch, the Café serves essential fare like coffee and sandwiches, plus dream-worthy pies and pastries. It also serves as our WiFi hub, where guests can get their internet fix. Set an early alarm so you get first pick of the goods!

Your Wildernest Awaits

Diverse in style, but always stylish, our lodging has been carefully curated to satisfy your every need. The refined mountain cabins at The Resort are appointed with full kitchens or kitchenettes, Bamford bath products, and deluxe Frette linens, while The Campsite offers five distinct camping accommodations: luxury or rustic yurts, a Spartan Trailer, RV campsites and tent campsites. Make the Most of Our Amenities

Exceptional Hiking

Boasting a network of hiking trails that’s accessible directly from the Resort, stunning hikes are easily accessible to all guests. Popo’s Trail is an 8.2 mile loop that partially overlaps with the 6.4 mile Picket Peak out-and-back trail. Both moderately challenging trails offer stunning views of Hope Valley and excellent exercise!

The Connector Trail

Our third on-site hiking trail, The Connector Trail is a moderate, 0.35 mile path that connects the Resort to the Campground. Be it for an early-morning trudge to the campground to grab coffee at the Café, or an evening trip to the resort to grab dinner and drinks at Sorensen’s, the Connector Trail is a favorite feature of all guests, linking both sides of the beautiful resort.

Wood-Fired Sauna

An Eastern European-style wellness exercise that dates back centuries, our wood-fired sauna offers a timeless, organic experience that benefits the body and allows you to connect with the earth’s natural elements. It’ll send you into serene relaxation, easing both your muscles and your mind.

Recreation for Everyone

Regardless of whether you’re the type to spend your vacation with a good book and a comfy hammock, or you’ve come specifically for the abundant outdoor recreation – fishing, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, boating, and beyond – here, everyone finds something that strikes their fancy.

And more…

We’ve taken every measure to ensure our guests’ needs aren’t just met, but exceeded. Make use of our filtered water filling stations, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, curated guest packages and full access to both the Resort and the Campground. We hope you feel at home.

Put Down Your Phone and Stay a While

We believe there is no better way to relax than to truly disconnect, which is why all of our lodging lacks WiFi and proper cell phone service. The opportunity to check out from work, social media, and the daily online grind allows guests to reconnect with nature and one another. Of course, free WiFi is always available for use at the Café, located on the Campground.

Bring Your Four-Legged Friend

Desolation Hotel is one of the few hotel brands that warmly invites dogs to stay at our resort. Although pets should not be left alone in their lodging, dogs are welcome to explore the stunning outdoors and luxuriate indoors, right alongside their humans. Rooms with canine guests will be appointed with dog-friendly amenities such as food and water bowls, pet waste bags, and directions to our doggie relief areas.

Please note that excessively noisy or disruptive pets will be asked to find other accommodations.

Private Beach

Enjoy Private Beach Access at Lake Tahoe

Located only 30 minutes’ drive from our sister resort, Desolation Hotel Lake Tahoe, guests of DH Hope Valley are welcome to take advantage of the unlimited, year-round beach access that DH Lake Tahoe enjoys. As members of the Lakeside Park Association Beach, any DH guests can enjoy a leisurely day on the beach, taking in the crystal clear blue water.
