What's the cancellation policy?

Cancel 72 hours before check-in at no charge. Less than 72 hours will result in a lost room deposit of the first night and taxes.

Do you offer late checkout/early check-in?

Check-in is at 4 PM and Check out is at 11 AM. For information about early check-in or late check-out requests and charges please contact the front desk at (530) 725 0101. When available and confirmed, there is a $49 early check-in fee and a late check-out fee of $49 per hour.

Are you dog friendly?

Friendly, quiet, and well behaved dogs are permitted leashed on the property and in rooms with a fee of $75/night per pet. No dog can be left in a room unattended. We provide coverings for the bed and furniture which must be used. Excessive dirt or hair may result in additional fees.

How many people does each room type sleep?

Alpine Studios: 4 guests
The Granite Suite: 4 guests

Do you offer parking?

Guests staying in the El Dorado Townhomes will have rate included parking access to their private garage. All other guests staying in either the Alpine Studios or The Granite Suite will have access to parking located on the property.

What's the weather like at Hope Valley?

As a mountain resort situated at 7000ft elevation our temperatures will always be cooler than that of the Tahoe Basin and surrounding valley. On average we will have snow on the ground from November till April. Nightly temperatures remain below freezing from October to May. From May to October, the days can be in the 70 to 80 during the night the temperature will cool off from days heat needing a lite jacket. Find out more here.

We recommend checking Caltrans and/or NDOT websites for local road updates.

What are the Operating Hours?

The front office is open at 7:30 am and closes at 8:30pm daily.Sorensens Cafe is open on the weekends for breakfast, and we sever an all-day menu starting daily at 12pm until 8pmReservations for dinner hours are strongly recommended. We also provide in house guests with Cabin Service for all meal periods.

What is Check In/Check Out Times?

Check in starts from 4pm and Check out is at 11am. Should you require an earlier check in or a later check out, kindly speak to the guest service team who will submit the request and we will try our best to honor, fees might apply to guarantee set times.

Am I guaranteed a specific cabin or yurt?

Yes as every cabin and site is a one-of-a-kind experience you are guaranteed that unique experience.

What amenities are in the Cabins?

All Cabins and yurts have Fireplaces, only two have original woodburning. Some have kitchenette’s other cabins offer a full kitchen
with French Press & Le Creuset Kettle’s.

Is this Sorensen’s Resort?

Yes, this is the old Sorensen’s Resort that was purchased August 2019. Our Café is still called Sorensen’s & by the campground is Hope Valley General Store and Café all of which is owned and operated by Desolation Hotel. The property has completed a multi-million-dollar renovation in 2021.We are an all-season resort, all cabins, the spartan & some yurts remain open year around.

Campground open middle of May – October depending on the weather.

Is the hotel Pet Friendly?

Yes! We are dog friendly property-wide; your dog must be leased while in public spaces and remember to clean up after you pet.We charge a nightly pet fee of $55 for all Cabins, Yurts, and Spartan which includes a welcome amenity treats and dog bags for proper waste disposal.While it’s $25 per pet per night for all RV’s & Campsites.

What are some activities/things to do in and around Hope Valley?

Hope Valley is an outdoor paradise full of adventure all depending on the season. Flyfishing, Hiking, Kayaking, Swimming, Paddleboard, Mountain & Road Biking, Snowshoeing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowboarding, Nature & History walks.

Do you allow smoking?

We are a smoke-free property.

Do you allow campfires or BBQ’s?

Yes we allow fires and BBQ’s in sites and locations as permitted within our National Forest.

What National Forest are in you?

We are location in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest

Do you sell Snow park passes/ USFS parking passes / Fishing permits?

We don’t currently sell them on property.

Is there Wi-Fi?

We do have Wi-Fi hotspots near Sorensen’s Café and HV General Store & Café. The outdoors is meant to disconnect and explore.

Hotel Policies

Guarantee Policy: A deposit equal to the first night and taxes will be charged at the time of booking. A valid credit or debit card is required at check-in.

Check-In/Out Policy: Must be 18 to check-in. Check-in is at 4 PM and Check out is at 11 AM. For information about early check-in or late check-out requests and charges please contact the front desk at (530) 725 0101. When available and confirmed, there is a $49 early check-in fee and a late check-out fee of $49 per hour.

Smoking/Vaping: Smoking and vaping is not permitted anywhere on the property including rooms. Guests will be charged a fee of $200/night/room for not complying.

Pool: Pool hours of operation are 7 AM until 10 PM daily. No lifeguard on duty.

Sauna: Sauna appointments can be made by calling the front desk 530-725-0101. Appointments are 45 minutes.

Resort Fee: A resort fee of $59 will be charged per room per night. This price includes access to the following amenities:
Pool and Spa, EV charging, Sauna, Fitness Center, Access to Lakeside Beach, Laundry Service, Parking, Bicycles (seasonal), Wi-Fi, Lakeside Park Beach Shuttle access (seasonal)

Accessibility: The property features two ADA rooms: Alpine Studio ADA and The Granite Suite.

Winter Policies: No boots or equipment in the Lobby or Maggie’s Restaurant and Bar. Equipment storage is included and located in the El Dorado Townhome Garages. Storage information for guests staying in the Alpine Studios or The Granite Suite can be found by contacting the front desk.

Property and Cancelation Policies:
Cancel 72 hours before check-in at no charge. Less than 72 hours will result in a lost room deposit of the first night and taxes.  Guests that cancel inside of the 72 hour window may also opt in for a gift certificate in the amount of their deposit to be used towards a future stay.

Terms and Conditions

Guarantee Policy:
A deposit equal to the first night and taxes will be charged at the time of booking. A valid credit or debit card is required at check-in. Wi-Fi: Our resort is an unplug and unwind experience. Wi-Fi signal is available only at the restaurant and lobby.

Check-In/Out Policy:
Check-in is at 4 PM. Must be 18 years of age with a valid I.D. to complete check-in. A fee of $50.00 plus tax will be assessed for check ins between 8-11am. Check out is at 11 AM.  Please contact the front desk for information or request regarding late check-outs. A fee of $50.00 plus tax per hour, will be charged for rooms occupied between 12-2pm; a fee of $75.00 plus tax per hour, will be charged for rooms occupied between 2-4pm. Rooms occupied after 4pm will be charged another night stay.

Pets:
Well behaved dogs (only) are allowed. Dogs are a $55 per pet, per night in all cabins. Dog fees for RV/Campsites will be $25 per night. Dogs must be on a leash at all times.  Pets may not be left unattended in the rooms unless crated.  ADA dogs are welcome in all rooms with no fee. Please understand that an "emotional support" animal is not covered under the ADA at this time and will incur all pet fees. Any guest that is not following the dog policies will be asked to vacate.

Lost and Found: Lost and found items will be held for 30 days after check-out. After 30 days, we will no longer hold on to items found. If you have left something behind, please give us a call as soon as possible to see if we have found your item.  

Campsite and General Store: Let us know when you will be arriving and we will have our camp host meet you at the Entrance to the Camp Ground in front of the General Store and help you get settled into your campsite. Our General Store is currently closed until further notice. 

Sorensen's Cafe: The cafe is open daily from 12pm-8pm. Our Continental breakfast is served from 8am-11am, for in house guests. Reservations for Sorensen's cafe are required. Complimentary coffee, tea, and hot cocoa are available to lodging guests throughout your stay. 

Lobby Hours: For your convenience, reception office hours are from 7:30 am- 8:30 pm If you are planning to arrive after office hours, please notify us at 530-694-2203, so that we may make special arrangements for your arrival. Check-in time begins at 4pm.

Cabins, Yurts, Spartan & Housekeeping: All linens are provided. Bamford Shower amenities provided for all Cabins, Yurts and Spartan. Most Cabins have kitchens. Yurts have exterior fire pits and bear boxes for food storage. There is no cooking or storing food within the yurts. Housekeeping Service is available upon request.

Smoking/Vaping:
Smoking and vaping is not permitted anywhere on the property including rooms. Guests will be charged a fee of up to $1,000/night/room for noncompliance.

Resort Amenities: All lodging guests are welcome to enjoy our on-site amenities which include the use of our newly renovated wood fired sauna, outdoor fire pits, snowshoes, sleds, telescope, limited Wi-Fi in our public area, self-parking, snowshoe trails, and local shuttle service by appointment (upon availability). Additionally, guests are invited to a welcome glass of wine on their day of arrival. These amenities are all included in the $35/daily + tax resort fee.

Wood-Fired Sauna:
Please call the Front Desk at (530) 694-2203 to schedule a sauna appointment. Appointments are one hour.
